Firefly, the compact EV brand under Nio, is expanding its lineup with a new model variant launching on October 23, according to a report by Autohome. The upcoming model features an upgrade to a 60kWh battery pack, extending its CLTC-rated range to 560 km. Nio has confirmed that current owners will be able to upgrade their vehicles to this new battery configuration.

This announcement comes on the heels of strong sales momentum for the brand, which recently delivered its 90,000th vehicle. Since its official market debut in April 2025, Firefly has maintained a competitive pricing strategy starting at 119,800 yuan (17,900 USD) for full ownership, or 79,800 yuan (11,900 USD) when utilizing its BaaS (battery as a service) program.

The core technical update is the switch from the current 42.1kWh Sunwoda battery pack—which offers a 420 km CLTC range—to a new CATL 60kWh unit. The EV keeps its rear-mounted single motor setup, kicking out 122 kW (164 HP) of maximum power and 205 N·m of peak torque. The chassis retains its MacPherson independent front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension.

In terms of design, the model sports a trio headlight configuration with three circular light rings. It also features a 92-liter front trunk with tiered storage and drainage capabilities. The vehicle measures 4,003 mm long, 1,781 mm wide, and 1,557 mm tall, with a 2,615 mm wheelbase.

Inside the cabin, drivers get a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 13.2-inch floating central touchscreen, and a 6-inch full LCD instrument cluster. The layout incorporates a walk-through design between the front seats for easy entry and exit from either side.
