Mercedes-AMG C-Class Electric to Take on the BMW M3 EV with Tri-Motor Power

Mercedes-AMG is putting the finishing touches on its high-performance electric C-Class, with prototypes now spotted testing in the Alps ahead of a likely debut later this year.

The AMG variant will share the standard C-Class Electric’s design language but pack serious hardware upgrades, including beefier brakes with ventilated discs and golden brake calipers, an active rear spoiler, and a sportier diffuser.

The prototype’s camouflage barely hides its AMG cues: lightweight wheels, black mirror caps, side skirts, and a fully enclosed Panamericana grille—unlike the standard model’s open design.

Inside, the cabin will carry over the standard C-Class Electric’s minimalist MBUX Superscreen setup, with options for a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, dual wireless smartphone chargers, and an illuminated panoramic glass roof.

Audio enthusiasts can opt for Burmester 3D or 4D sound systems with stainless steel speaker grilles, while performance-focused buyers will get an AMG steering wheel and standard sport seats.

The standard C400 4MATIC Electric already packs a 94 kWh battery feeding a dual-motor AWD system with 482 HP (360 kW / 489 PS), 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and a WLTP range of up to 473 miles (762 km). Its 330 kW DC fast charging can add 202 miles (325 km) in just 10 minutes.

The AMG variant is expected to leapfrog this with a tri-motor powertrain rumored to deliver around 789 HP (588 kW / 800 PS), though Mercedes has not confirmed details.
