Range Rover’s next-generation Velar is undergoing a radical transformation, shifting from its current SUV roots into a sleek, high-riding sedan silhouette.
Spy shots reveal the new model’s profile is eerily similar to the Polestar 4, marking a departure from the boxy SUV styling of its predecessor.

The upcoming Velar will ride on Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA platform, which was originally designed for electric vehicles but will now support both hybrid and EV powertrains.
The automaker has confirmed the platform’s flexibility, though specific engine and battery details remain under wraps.
Reports suggest the electric variant could feature an 800-volt architecture, positioning it as a rival to the BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ, and Volvo EX60.

Battery capacity is unconfirmed, but estimates suggest it could reach up to 100 kWh to compete effectively.
The new Velar may also adopt a camera-based rear-view system, eliminating the traditional rear window to free up cabin space and reduce the bulky header rail.

This design choice mirrors the Polestar 4 and Jaguar’s upcoming Type 01, though JLR has not officially confirmed the feature.
The model’s name could also change as Jaguar Land Rover restructures its brand families—Discovery, Range Rover, Defender, and Jaguar—to operate as distinct entities.
The Velar’s redesign is led by former JLR design chief Gerry McGovern, who departed before the project’s completion.

The new model is expected to arrive in showrooms within the next six months, with testing already underway.
It’s slated to be the first all-new model under the leadership of PB Balaji, JLR’s chief financial officer and Tata Motors executive, and is projected to outsell the full-size Range Rover and Land Rover Defender thanks to a more accessible price point.
