Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, the Luce, has already sold out in China—just days before its official launch in the country this weekend. According to reports, all 88 units allocated to the Chinese market have been purchased, though Ferrari Beijing is still accepting new orders, suggesting the automaker may increase allocations if demand remains high. The Luce’s rapid sell-out in China contrasts sharply with the polarizing reception it has received globally. Critics have slammed the EV for its radical departure from Ferrari’s traditional supercar design, with some questioning its aesthetic and branding. Online backlash has been fierce, yet the car’s sales performance in China indicates strong consumer interest. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna previously confirmed that the automaker had received “strong interest” in the Luce, including deposits. The Luce is Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, equipped with four electric motors producing 1,050 horsepower. Its cabin prioritizes comfort, resembling a Mercedes-Benz interior rather than the typical Ferrari experience. Ferrari is expected to reveal the total number of deposits placed for the Luce next month, providing clarity on its market reception. The company remains confident in the model’s appeal, particularly in markets like China, where demand for high-performance EVs is surging.
