Ford has launched two new recalls covering a combined 777,000 vehicles, with the larger campaign targeting transmission issues in multiple models and a smaller one addressing fender flare detachment on the Bronco. The transmission recall affects 741,195 trucks and SUVs spanning model years 2018 through 2021, including the Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Navigator. The issue stems from a transmission valve body separator plate that can limit flow to the park valve during certain shifts, potentially causing the parking pawl to engage while the vehicle is in motion. This can damage parking components and leave the vehicle unable to hold in Park without also using the parking brake, increasing the risk of rollaway.
Ford reports 24 property damage claims, seven physical injuries, and two emotional injury reports linked to the problem. The fix involves installing updated Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software to prevent the problematic shift commands, followed by an inspection and replacement of parking components as needed. The second recall covers 36,046 Broncos from model years 2022 to 2026. A supplier’s poorly maintained tooling produced fender flares with incorrectly sized attachment holes, burrs, and stray fibers, leading to clips that lose retention over time.

Owners may notice gaps, sagging, or misaligned fender flares, along with rattling, clicking, or flapping noises. Ford has logged 370 warranty claims, 36 field reports, and two customer reports related to the issue. The repair involves replacing fasteners with new push pins and installing any missing fender flares. These recalls mark Ford’s 53rd and 54th of 2025, pushing the automaker’s total affected vehicles past 11 million for the year, reinforcing its position at the top of the industry’s recall tally.
