Ford to shift Lincoln Nautilus production from China to U.S. by 2030

Ford Motor Co. will halt imports of the Lincoln Nautilus SUV from China and relocate all production of the model to the United States starting in 2030. The Nautilus has been the only Lincoln model imported from China to the U.S. market since 2024, when Ford began shipping it from a joint venture plant in Hangzhou operated with Changan Automobile. The decision comes amid escalating tariff pressure from the Trump administration, which has imposed higher duties on imported vehicles and parts to incentivize domestic manufacturing. Ford cited insufficient North American production capacity when it first announced plans to import the Nautilus from China three years ago, noting that its Ontario plant had been repurposed for other models. Last year, the automaker sold nearly 34,000 Nautilus units in the U.S., a modest figure compared with its top-selling F-Series pickups (829,000 units), Explorer SUVs (223,000 units), and Bronco SUVs (146,000 units) in 2025. The move reflects broader industry shifts as automakers respond to trade policies aimed at reducing reliance on overseas manufacturing.
