Benda is a Chinese motorcycle brand founded in 2016 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, under the parent company Hangzhou Saturn Power Technology Co., Ltd. The operating entity registered with the Chinese government is Zhejiang Shiwu Motorcycle Co., Ltd. The brand name was chosen to project a more global identity, and the company’s official tagline translates to “The world always holds new riding encounters.” Benda’s mission emphasizes aesthetic design and craftsmanship, aiming to create motorcycles with unique style and artistic value, while its vision is to “Create a brand-new kind of vehicle. Become a globally renowned mobility aesthetics brand.” The company is built on three core values: Pure (passion and experience without compromise), Enterprising (pursuit of excellence without limits), and Uncompromising (firm commitment to quality over shortcuts). Benda’s brand DNA combines these principles.

From day one, Benda positioned itself as a design-first, engineering-first brand rather than a volume assembler. In 2017, it launched its own engine division, a rarity among Chinese motorcycle manufacturers that typically rely on suppliers like Loncin, CFMoto, or Zongshen. The same year, Benda established R&D and industrial design offices in Austria, collaborating with Kiska, the renowned design partner of KTM. The company also built two factories in China to ensure scalability and reduce supply chain risk. Benda’s first major product was the Chinchilla 300, a 298cc liquid-cooled V-twin sport cruiser that sold approximately 80,000 units in China shortly after launch.

The brand’s entry-level Rock 250 has since been “approved by over 600,000 new riders,” reflecting its strong penetration in the Chinese beginner cruiser market. Benda is privately held and employs around 1,200 people, with more than 20% dedicated to R&D and design—a high ratio for any manufacturer. The Chinese government has recognized Benda with multiple designations, including high-tech enterprise status, a provincial R&D center in Zhejiang, and the national Professional Excellence and Innovation Enterprise certification from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In Europe, Benda Motor Europe GmbH is led by Libo Liu, Managing Director and General Manager, who studied Industrial/Transportation Design at Braunschweig University of Art in Germany and previously worked at Audi and Kiska. Liu joined Benda in 2022.

As of 2026, Benda offers over a dozen models across five families, with four families imported into the United States. The Rock family, named “huishi” (gray stone or gravel) in Chinese, is Benda’s flagship cruiser line. The Rock 707 features a 691cc V-twin engine producing 73 HP and 50 lb-ft of torque, paired with a belt drive and Brembo brakes. It includes electronic two-chamber air suspension with automatic seat height adjustment, allowing the seat height to be adjusted between 27 and 28 inches while stopped. Three trim variants are available in China: Standard, Pro, and Ultra.

The Rock 707 is not currently offered in the US. The Rock 707EC is the newest and most advanced model in the family, featuring an Electronic Clutch (similar to Honda’s E-clutch), the Benda BCD Smart Connected Vehicle Network, and a three-year complimentary telematics and connectivity system. It shares the same platform as the Rock 707 but represents a significant technology upgrade.
