Neue Klasse drives BMW’s fully-electric sales past two million milestone

BMW Group has delivered its two-millionth fully-electric vehicle (BEV) in August 2026, marking a decade of growth since the launch of the original BMW i3 in late 2013. The milestone caps cumulative electrified vehicle deliveries—including plug-in hybrids—at around 3.5 million units worldwide since 2013. In the first half of 2026, more than one in four vehicles sold by the Group was electrified, with Europe achieving a BEV share of 28% during the same period. The surge in BEV uptake was driven by strong availability of the BMW iX3, which accounted for one in three fully-electric BMWs ordered in Europe since its debut. Within the X3 family, every second order is now for the fully-electric iX3. The two-millionth BEV, a BMW i5 M60 xDrive, rolled off the line at Plant Dingolfing and was delivered to a customer in Spain. Series production of the new BMW i3 began at Plant Munich in August 2026, with high demand prompting a steep ramp-up curve. Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales, highlighted the pivotal role of the Neue Klasse architecture in accelerating the Group’s electromobility ramp-up. He noted that Europe is on track to reach 100,000 new BEV orders soon, underscoring the Neue Klasse’s impact. The BMW Group’s electrified lineup spans BEVs and plug-in hybrids, reinforcing its position as an e-mobility pioneer with over 50 years of innovation. Energy consumption and emissions data for the BMW iX3 50 xDrive and BMW i5 M60 xDrive are provided under WLTP standards: the iX3 50 xDrive consumes 18.1–15.1 kWh/100 km with 0 g/km CO₂ emissions, while the i5 M60 xDrive consumes 19.5–19.4 kWh/100 km with 0 g/km CO₂ emissions.
