Honda has issued a follow-up recall covering 4,804 Accord and CR-V vehicles for a second repair of a defective tire-sealant bottle cap, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue was first identified in June, when Honda recalled more than 1 million Accords and CR-Vs for the same problem.

The defect centers on the sealant bottle in the flat-tire repair kit, which is fitted with a nozzle containing a one-way valve. If the nozzle is connected incorrectly during a repair, pressure can build inside the bottle and launch the cap. While most of the recalled bottles were corrected during the first recall, this second batch of roughly 4,000 vehicles received a brand-new version of the exact same faulty part. Documents say the supplier accidentally mixed its supply of the original defective part with the newly fixed model.

The affected vehicles are 2025–2026 Honda CR-V Fuel-Cell EVs, 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids, and 2023–2026 Accord Hybrids. No related injuries have been reported, though Honda advises owners to point the repair kit’s bottle away from themselves if they find themselves stranded with a flat tire.

Honda says it will begin notifying owners on November 16. Dealers will inspect the tire repair kit and replace the faulty part if necessary.
