The Honda CR-V has taken the top spot in US sales charts for the first half of 2026, with 226,114 units sold, surpassing the Ford F-150‘s estimated 209,311 units and the Toyota RAV4’s 153,955 deliveries. The RAV4, which was the last car to outsell the F-150, experienced a 36 percent sales drop due to production disruptions and supply shortages.

Ford also faced production constraints due to a fire at a major aluminum supplier. Meanwhile, Honda’s CR-V has seen strong demand, particularly for its hybrid models, which account for 56 percent of sales.
The company’s lease retention strategy has also paid off, with three-quarters of returning lessees choosing to stay with the brand. As a result, CR-V sales surged 19 percent in May and 30 percent in June, despite inventory shrinking to roughly 15 days’ supply.

However, whether the CR-V can maintain its lead remains uncertain, as Toyota ramps up production of the new RAV4 and Ford expects F-150 output to recover in the second half of the year.
