Ford has issued two new recalls covering a total of 110,626 vehicles, both involving the Mustang nameplate. The first recall targets 67,842 Ford Mustangs from model years 2024 to 2026, including the high-performance Mustang GTD. The issue stems from a supplier error where a 32-kilobyte programming setting was printed for a 16-kilobyte chip, causing the windshield wiper motor to lose Local Interconnect Network (LIN) communication with the steering column module in temperatures of 32°F or below. When this happens, the wipers may only operate at the high-speed setting, and the washing system becomes inoperable—posing a hazard in snow, ice, or sleet. Ford became aware of the problem in January 2026 after identifying a 2026 Mustang with wipers stuck on high speed.

The company is now inspecting affected vehicles and will replace any wiper motors that fail testing. Ford reports 35 warranty claims related to the issue but no crashes or injuries. The second recall involves 42,784 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles. In this case, the rear differential pinion shaft may fracture due to bending fatigue, potentially causing the car to lose motive power or move unintentionally while in park. Affected vehicles may display malfunction indicator lights and throw diagnostic trouble codes P174E, P0A2F, P019C, and/or P27B2.

Ford discovered the issue in March 2026 during a teardown of a 2023 European-spec Mach-E, which revealed a failed pinion shaft. Between March and May 2026, Ford analyzed six additional failed shafts, all showing bending fatigue failures. The automaker worked with the supplier to identify discrepancies in part core hardness measurements but has not yet determined the root cause. Ford has logged 62 warranty claims related to the Mach-E issue but reports no accidents or injuries. The fix will involve repairing or replacing the rear differential assembly with a more robust pinion shaft.
