Ford Mustang GT3 Scores IMSA Win At The Brickyard

The Ford Mustang GT3 teams headed to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway with high hopes and delivered a stellar performance. The No. 64 Mustang team held off Corvette Racing to win the GTD Pro class after a grueling two-hour and 40-minute battle. Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker shared the driving duties in the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3.

Olsen held control during the event’s final circuits, fiercely defending his position against the Corvette Z06 GT3.R driven by Nicky Catsburg. The two made contact during the closing laps, but both drivers kept their race cars pointed in the right direction. Ultimately, the Corvette had nothing for the Mustang, and Ford Racing secured the GTD Pro victory by a margin of 0.993 seconds. Reflecting on the finish, Olsen noted that he tried everything to defend the lead, praising the strength of the Ford Mustang GT3 and noting the intense pressure of the final stint. Ben Barker emphasized that replicating last year’s success was a major test, crediting Ford Racing, Multimatic, and the extensive preparation done in the workshop. Barker also highlighted the motivational words from IMSA Resilient Racers Noah and Piper before the start. Meanwhile, the sister No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 crossed the finish line in seventh place.

Following this strong result, Ford Racing now sits second in the Manufacturer standings, trailing Chevrolet.
