Renault is preparing a major overhaul for its electric lineup, with the Megane and Scenic slated to move to the new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform starting in 2028. According to reports, the upcoming models will transition from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel-drive variants will also be available. The new architecture, introduced in March 2026, is designed to support vehicles ranging from the B+ to D segments, spanning sedans to SUVs, with lengths between 4.30 and 4.80 meters and a wheelbase growing to 2.85 meters. This means the electric Megane, which currently measures 4.20 meters, will need to grow slightly, while the 4.47-meter Scenic already fits the dimensions. Larger models like the Rafale and Espace, both measuring around 4.70 meters, are also expected to utilize this platform. Power will come from a newly introduced 202-kW motor, delivering 275 bhp (approximately 205 kW) and 350 Nm of torque in rear-wheel-drive configuration, a significant step up from the current 160-kW motor used in the Megane and Scenic. Renault chief developer Philippe Brunet noted that the switch to rear-wheel drive improves handling and simplifies wiring. The battery pack will feature LFP chemistry with a cell-to-body structural architecture and will remain under 90 kWh to control costs, enabling a WLTP range of up to 750 km. The platform also supports 800-volt technology, though it remains unconfirmed whether all models will adopt it. Inside, the design is expected to draw inspiration from the Espace Concept, featuring a display stretching across the entire width of the cockpit near the windscreen, alongside a second touchscreen and steer-by-wire capability to support autonomous driving functions. Meanwhile, the current electric Renault Megane recently received a facelift introducing a new LFP battery, raising its range to 494 km, with prices starting from 34,990 euros.
