Renault Updates the Megane E-Tech EV with a Meaner Face, Bigger Battery, and Slower 0-62 mph

Renault has refreshed the Megane E-Tech Electric with a sportier front-end design, a larger battery, and faster charging, delivering a more aggressive look and improved range.

The update replaces the old 60 kWh battery with a new 67 kWh usable LFP pack, boosting WLTP range from 285 miles to 310 miles and increasing peak DC charging to 165 kW—allowing a 15 to 80 percent recharge in around 24 minutes.

Despite the bigger battery, the zero-to-62 mph time has crept up slightly from 7.5 to 7.6 seconds, though Renault claims retuned steering and revised suspension help mask the difference on the road.

The front-wheel-drive powertrain remains unchanged, with a 217 HP (220 PS / 160 kW) electric motor producing 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque.

Visually, the Megane now sports the same family grille and bumper design as the Captur and Symbioz, ditching its previous cuddly appearance in favor of a sharper, more mature look. Fresh wheel designs and a new Satin Blue paint finish add to the updated aesthetic.

Inside, the twin-screen dashboard gets a software overhaul with Google Gemini integration, expanded app availability (now over 100), and a driver-recognition feature that loads personal settings automatically.

The range is now simplified to Techno and Esprit Alpine trims, both with more standard equipment than before.

While the update doesn’t deliver the long-rumored hot hatch-inspired performance boost, it significantly enhances the Megane E-Tech’s appeal with sharper styling, better range, and upgraded tech.
