Tire Rack has just put five ultra-high-performance all-season (UHPAS) tires through their paces, and the results may surprise Michelin loyalists. In a head-to-head test featuring the Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS, Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS, Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season, Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season, and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, the Michelin didn’t take the top spot. The test used a Tesla Model 3 as the test mule, but the tires weren’t EV-specific—except for the Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season, which is the OEM fitment for the Model 3.

Despite this, Tire Rack insists the findings apply to all performance cars, not just EVs. The Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season emerged as the overall standout, dominating dry and wet performance while also delivering strong efficiency. It tied for first in wet grip with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, but the Michelin finished fourth overall in the dry and wet combined rankings, tied with the Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season.

The Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS outperformed both Goodyears in wet conditions, while the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 lagged behind in real-world road feel. The test also highlighted a critical naming trap: the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Pilot Sport All Season 4 are entirely different tires despite sharing the same naming convention. Tire Rack warns buyers to double-check before purchasing, especially online where confusion is rampant.

One caveat: this test didn’t evaluate cold-weather or snow performance, so winter drivers should hold off until Tire Rack’s upcoming winter test results, expected early next year.
