BYD is introducing its 5-minute Flash Charging technology to Canada, even before its cars are available in the market.
This quick charging system can add 250 miles of range in just 5 minutes, thanks to its 1,500 kW technology and compatibility with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and 1,000-volt architecture.
The company has already established over 6,000 Flash Charging stations in China and plans to expand to other countries, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

In Europe, BYD aims to introduce around 3,000 stations by the end of next year, with an estimated cost of €580,000 ($670,000) per station.
The Flash Charging network will allow BYD to compete with Tesla in Canada and potentially redefine how EVs are used, enabling the use of smaller, lighter battery packs.

BYD has posted a job listing for a Flash Charging Business Development Manager in Toronto to oversee the rollout of the technology in Canada.
