The Denza Z9, a blisteringly fast electric shooting brake, has received an over-the-air update that enables autonomous drifting.

With a combined 1,139 HP from its trio of electric motors, the Z9 GT can churn out 892 lb-ft of torque.

The system, which is extraordinarily easy to use, allows owners to draw a shape on the infotainment system, and the car will automatically start to drift in that exact shape.

The Denza Z9 GT has a large 122.49 kWh battery pack, a 308 HP electric motor at the front axle, and two 416 HP motors at the rear axle.

The all-electric model is available in China, with a price of $40K, although someone in France paid over $800,000 for the vehicle.

Denza also sells the Z9 as a plug-in hybrid, which includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and less-powerful electric motors.

While this appears to be the first use of an autonomous drift function on a production car, BMW previously unveiled a self-driving M235i Coupe that could perform high-speed powerslides at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2014. However, due to safety concerns, BMW never offered such a system in any of its production cars.
