Lexus’s fifth-generation RX 350, launched in 2023, rides on the brand’s new GA-K platform, trading its predecessor’s familiar look for a bolder, more rigid design. While the chassis and powertrain updates didn’t transform it into a driver’s car—our 2023 first drive confirmed it’s more about comfort than engagement—Lexus’s reputation for bulletproof reliability remains intact. The RX 350 is a standout in reliability rankings: it’s among Consumer Reports’ most reliable crossovers, topped iSeeCars’ list of the most reliable luxury five-seat SUVs under $60,000 with an 8/10 score, and earned Lexus the top spot in J.D.

Power’s 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. Its value retention is equally impressive, with an 8.5/10 score from iSeeCars and a Kelley Blue Book-reported three-year depreciation rate of just 28%.

RepairPal gives it a 4.0/5.0 reliability rating, and Edmunds data shows RX 350 owners spend an average of $1,287 on repairs over five years—far less than rivals like the BMW X3 ($2,787), Mercedes-Benz GLC ($2,977), or Volvo XC60 ($1,873). J.D. Power’s consumer-verified score backs this up with an 81/100 for quality and reliability.

But even Lexus isn’t flawless. The RX 350 has faced multiple recalls, including a 2025 issue with blank instrument screens failing to display critical warnings (affecting up to 10 units), a 2025 rear seat belt recall impacting 7,391 vehicles, and a 2023-2025 backup camera defect that snared 71,084 RX units. Steering column recalls also resurfaced in 2025 for 2023 models.

Older generations aren’t immune either: the third-gen RX 350 (2010–2015) had recalls for brakes, speed control, stability control, and fuel systems, while the fourth-gen (2016–2022) faced issues with knee airbags, brakes, frontal airbags, fuel pumps, and fuel storage. For now, The Weekly Driver’s data suggests the non-hybrid 2.4-liter engine is the RX 350’s most reliable powertrain option.
