2026 Audi A3 refresh ditches more physical buttons, adds panoramic display and swarm-data cruise control

Audi’s 2026 A3 compact-car range rolls out a comprehensive interior and tech refresh across all body styles and powertrains, including the S3 and RS3 performance models. The headline change is the elimination of most physical buttons in the cabin, replaced by an 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit and a 12.8-inch MMI panoramic display integrated into a single curved dashboard surface. The new layout features a continuous horizontal trim inlay stretching from the instrument cluster to the passenger side, visually unifying the cabin. Climate controls and steering-wheel buttons are now touch-sensitive, with the wheel offering two double-spoke designs and a three-spoke S-line/S-model variant featuring flattened top and bottom sections. Interior materials include carbon fiber, Dinamica microfiber, and two textile fabrics—Impressum Black and Light Crepe. The revised center console reorients the wireless phone-charging tray toward the driver, with a 25-watt charging pad. The steering-wheel multifunction roller remains mechanical.

Driver-assistance systems are reorganized into three packages—Tech, Tech plus, and Tech pro—with the top-tier adaptive driving assistant plus integrating adaptive cruise control and active lane guidance up to 130 mph. The system uses lane markings, road edges, and surrounding traffic for longitudinal and lateral control, enabling automatic lane changes on highways after turn-signal activation, plus automatic slowing at red lights and reacceleration when the light turns green. For the first time, swarm data adjusts speed to average traffic pace on a given route, with this feature included for three years from delivery and extendable for a fee. Lane guidance now leverages online data to function in urban and rural areas even without clear lane markings. Parking tech includes four wide-angle surround cameras providing a 360-degree 3D view via MMI, while Park Assist plus and pro systems recognize parking markings via camera and can autonomously steer into parallel and perpendicular spaces, controlling steering, acceleration, braking, and gear changes. Park Assist pro adds a remote-parking function via smartphone app and a trained-parking feature that stores and replays up to five individual maneuvers, each up to 164 feet long.

Connectivity expands with app-based remote access to vehicle status—parking location, lock status, window and lighting states, odometer, fuel level, tire pressure, oil level, and service intervals—plus remote control of the auxiliary heater and locking/unlocking. Audi’s Functions on Demand program lets buyers activate software-based features later for a fee, including audio-optimization and virtual surround-sound upgrades.

Body styles remain unchanged: Sportback, Sedan, and the A3 allstreet crossover introduced in spring 2024, which adds roughly 1.2 inches of ground clearance and off-road styling cues. Powertrains include gasoline and diesel engines with outputs of 114 HP and 148 HP. The A3 e-hybrid plug-in hybrid delivers a combined system output of 201 HP or 268 HP, with an electric range up to 89 miles on the WLTP cycle, DC fast charging in about 30 minutes, and maximum towing capacity increased by 661 pounds to 3,748 pounds. The S3 and RS3 retain quattro all-wheel drive and torque splitters, with the S3 powered by a 328-HP turbocharged four-cylinder and the RS3 by a 394-HP turbocharged five-cylinder. Visual distinctions include model-specific grille badges, unique digital daytime running light signatures, and RS3-specific wide fenders. Matrix LED headlights offer four selectable daytime running light designs via MMI.

The refreshed A3 lineup goes on sale in European dealerships starting mid-September 2026. In Germany, prices start at €31,850 for the A3 Sportback, €45,350 for the A3 Sportback e-hybrid, €57,200 for the S3, and €68,500 for the RS3.
