Skoda’s new flagship EV SUV: the Peaq packs maximum space and tech

Skoda has finally launched its long-awaited three-row electric SUV, the Peaq, turning the Vision 7S concept from nearly four years ago into a production reality. The brand’s largest model ever at 4,874 mm long, the Peaq slots into the Czech carmaker’s expanding EV lineup with flush door handles, a 2.12 m² electrochromic roof with nine switchable segments, and windshield washers integrated into the wiper blades—both firsts for Skoda. The SUV rides on a dedicated EV platform, stretching its wheelbase to 2,965 mm to maximise interior space. It’s offered in five- and seven-seat configurations, with the five-seat version delivering the segment’s largest cargo bay at 1,010 litres. Even with all three rows in use, there’s still 299 litres of boot space, plus an extra 37 litres in the front trunk for smaller items. The Peaq is the first Skoda to feature a vertical 13.6-inch Android-based infotainment touchscreen that juts out from the dashboard, though it retains a handful of physical climate controls. The cabin can be upgraded with the Relax Package, adding massaging and ventilated seats, electrically adjustable footrests, a folding table, a Sonos sound system, and wood trim. The SUV’s styling follows the Vision 7S concept’s cues, adopting Skoda’s “Modern Solid” design language with 10 body colours and aerodynamic wheels from 19 to 21 inches. Under the skin, the Peaq offers two battery options: a 63 kWh pack with over 286 miles (460 km) of range and a 91 kWh pack exceeding 373 miles (600 km). DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 28 minutes. Powertrain choices include single-motor rear-wheel drive with outputs of 201 HP or 282 HP, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version with 295 HP. The AWD model sprints from 0–62 mph in 6.7 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 112 mph (180 km/h), while the more powerful RWD and AWD variants share the same speed cap. The entry-level RWD model is limited to 100 mph (160 km/h). The Peaq goes on sale in Europe later this year as one of Volkswagen Group’s largest mainstream electric vehicles based on the MEB platform, joining models like the VW ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer. Skoda positions the Peaq as a roomier alternative to the Kodiaq, catering to buyers who want an EV with packaging advantages but without abandoning combustion engines or plug-in hybrids. The brand’s strategy appears to be working: in Q1 2026, Skoda became Europe’s second-best-selling brand, delivering 222,500 vehicles across 27 EU countries plus the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
