Dodge’s Charger SRT8 Came With Four Doors. This One-Off Has Two.

Dodge fans have long lamented that the modern Charger SRT8 arrived only as a four-door sedan, but a California-based company called Metalcrafters has turned a 2008 Charger SRT8 into a rare two-door coupe.

The one-off build is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer, blending vintage styling cues with modern SRT8 performance.

Metalcrafters, known for crafting OEM concept cars for brands like Mercedes and Hyundai, stripped the four-door body, shortened the chassis, and wrapped the car in hand-formed carbon fiber inspired by the 1968 Dodge Charger.

The exterior features a full-width grille, hidden headlights, recessed door scallops, flying-buttress rear pillars, and four round taillights—though the waistline kick-up evokes a ’68 Buick Skylark or Olds Cutlass more than the original Charger.

Under the carbon fiber hood sits the original 6.1-liter Hemi V8 from the SRT8, rated at 425 HP (431 PS) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque.

The car retains the factory SRT8 mechanical package, including a five-speed automatic transmission, Brembo brakes, and independent suspension.

Modifications include a cold-air intake and custom exhaust, but the real draw is the unmistakable Hemi growl.

The interior remains largely stock, with the typical plasticky FCA cabin of the era—described by Stellantis design boss Ralph Gilles as “hard and plasticky as water pistols.” Still, it’s well-equipped with heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and a touchscreen infotainment system.

The odometer shows fewer than 3,400 miles (5,500 km), meaning this two-door Charger SRT8 is as much a time capsule as it is a custom build.
