If you’ve made repairs on your boat’s engine and want to test it before putting it back in the water, you can do so with the right equipment. A marine engine relies on water to cool it down, and running it in dry air can cause problems.
However, you can use motor flusher muffs, which adapt a garden hose connector to your engine’s water intake ports, to supply coolant and keep your engine cool. These muffs are available for different types of engines, including inboard and outboard motors, such as Honda’s production V8.

It’s essential to use the correct type of muffs for your engine, as using the flush port can lead to improper cooling and damage to your impeller or engine. You can purchase a set of muffs for around $28 and plumb a garden hose in to provide cooling.
When selecting muffs, read reviews and choose a set that is compatible with your engine manufacturer to ensure a proper fit and effective cooling.
