Walmart to Build $1.3B Georgia Fulfillment Center, Creating 1,000 Jobs

Walmart is set to begin construction on a $1.3 billion automated fulfillment center in Carnesville, Georgia, in late 2026. The 1.5 million-square-foot facility will create about 1,000 jobs and expand the retailer’s same-day and next-day shipping capacity. The project is part of Walmart’s efforts to support its e-commerce growth and improve its supply chain network. The facility will be located at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center in Franklin County, about 80 miles northeast of Atlanta. According to Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of supply chain for Walmart U.S., the investment will help the company deliver speed, convenience, and reliability to its customers. The project is expected to bring employment opportunities to a rural part of Georgia and allow more residents to work closer to home. Walmart already operates 209 stores and 11 supply chain facilities in Georgia, employing more than 65,300 associates. The company spent more than $26.2 billion with Georgia suppliers and supported more than 167,600 supplier jobs in the state during fiscal 2025.
