Univar Solutions has finalized the acquisition of HM Royal, a century-old US distributor specializing in rubber, plastics, and adhesive additives, the company confirmed on 3 August 2026. The deal, announced by Downers Grove, Illinois-based Univar, is designed to bolster its footprint in the US additives market, particularly along the East and West Coasts where HM Royal maintains a strong customer base. Univar did not disclose financial terms. The acquisition integrates HM Royal into Univar’s Performance Materials segment under the Ingredients + Specialties division, expanding access to specialized products, technical know-how, and established supplier and customer relationships. HM Royal’s clients will now benefit from Univar’s expanded logistics network and digital tools, while Univar gains deeper technical expertise in rubber, plastics, and adhesives. Nick Powell, CEO of Ingredients + Specialties at Univar Solutions, emphasized the deal brings “deep technical expertise” and long-standing industry partnerships. Matthew Oliver, SVP of Performance Materials, highlighted the creation of “a more connected platform in rubber and plastics,” ensuring HM Royal’s technical strengths, supplier ties, and market focus remain intact. The combined entity is expected to deliver broader product access, stronger technical support, and improved supply reliability for customers and suppliers alike.
