Toyota’s GR86 gets a 2027 refresh that sharpens its driver-focused edge without adding weight or complexity. The headline update is a recalibrated throttle map that delivers a smoother, more linear torque curve, while engineers widened the 4th-to-5th shift interlock by 0.02 in to tighten shift feel.

Both changes were dialed in on track before final sign-off. The 2.4-litre flat-four boxer still makes 228 HP and 184 lb-ft, paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic in base and Premium trims.

A new Performance Package bolts on Brembo four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers gripping 12.8×1.3 in front and 12.4×0.79 in rear rotors, plus SACHS nitrogen-charged dampers tuned for sharper turn-in and stable steering feel. Inside, Premium grades add a bold Cockpit Red interior with black Ultrasuede side bolsters, red leather accents, red floor mats and red door inlays, while base models keep six-way adjustable GR-embossed fabric seats.

A new Thunder solid-gray paint shifts hue with light to flatter the coupe’s sculpted flanks. Active-safety tweaks double the stereo-camera range for adaptive cruise and add a monocular camera for junction object detection.
Toyota will offer a free one-year National Auto Sport Association membership with every GR86. Arrival at U.S. dealerships is slated for summer 2026; pricing and final specs will be released later in 2026.
