Meet Thor24, the most expensive semi truck ever built—a one-off custom rig that blends brute force, over-the-top engineering, and jaw-dropping bling into a single 32,000-pound monster. Stretched over the bones of a 1979 Peterbilt 359 chassis, this rolling art piece is powered by a monstrous 27.9-liter V24 engine cobbled together from two retired two-stroke Detroit Diesel V12s.

The marriage of these powerplants via a splined crankshaft created an engine that breathes through a staggering 12 Detroit 6-71 superchargers and eight nitrous-oxide bottles, pushing output to a claimed 3,974 horsepower. That’s enough to propel the 44-foot-long behemoth to a top speed of 130 mph—no small feat for a truck weighing as much as a small yacht.
The drivetrain pairs the V24 with an Allison HT740 transmission, while stopping power comes courtesy of four 12-foot drag parachutes, a nod to drag-racing tech. Under the hood—or rather, under the polished aluminum and stainless steel belly—Thor24 dazzles with chrome plating and a level of fitment that turns heads even before the engine fires up.

The cab is a custom fabrication masterpiece. The original Peterbilt cab was stretched to add a second pair of doors, with a Lamborghini-style scissor mechanism for the passenger front door.

Inside, the cabin is a sensory overload of 24 custom gauges, a broadsword-inspired shifter, and a 1,500-watt-per-channel 110-volt audio system that would shame a concert venue. For entertainment on the go, there are seven movie screens.

Yet Thor24 isn’t just a static showpiece. Despite its over-the-top specs, it retains full towing capability, proving that Harrah’s seven-year, $7 million build wasn’t just about spectacle—it was about creating something genuinely functional.
That dual purpose paid off in 2019 when Thor24 went under the hammer at a Worldwide Auctioneers event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The truck fetched a record $12 million, cementing its status as the most expensive semi truck in history.
Ironically, despite the auction’s location in the Middle East, Thor24 never left Arizona, where it was built and continues to reside today.
