Pirelli has been confirmed as Formula 1’s exclusive tyre supplier through the end of the 2028 season after the FIA exercised an option to extend the current contract by one year. The move locks Pirelli into its role as the global tyre partner of F1 and the sole supplier to the FIA Formula One World Championship, FIA Formula 2 Championship, FIA Formula 3 Championship and F1 Academy. The one-year extension was built into agreements signed in 2023 between Pirelli, the FIA and Formula 1, which had already secured the Italian manufacturer’s position as the sole supplier for the 2025–2027 period. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem called Pirelli “an important partner to the FIA Formula One World Championship for many years,” praising its “consistently high standard of performance, innovation, and safety.” The extension, he added, “provides stability for the championship” and underscores the strong collaboration between the FIA, Formula One Group and Pirelli. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli’s executive vice chairman, hailed F1 as “the best laboratory” for testing technical solutions and driving R&D improvements that ultimately benefit road tyres. Pirelli has held the exclusive F1 tyre supply contract since 2011.
