Peugeot’s first electric GTi hits 62 mph in 5.5 seconds for under €43,000

Peugeot has launched the e‑208 GTi, the brand’s first fully electric performance variant, priced at €42,900 ($49,646).

The hot hatch packs a 277 HP electric motor (M4+ unit) with 254 lb‑ft (345 Nm) of torque, enabling a 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) sprint in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

Power comes from a 54 kWh battery, delivering up to 233 miles (375 km) of WLTP range on standard tires, though Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber trims that figure to 219 miles (352 km). The battery supports 100 kW DC fast charging, replenishing from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes.

The e‑208 GTi rides on a lowered suspension (1 inch / 25 mm drop), a wider track, unique springs and dampers, a mechanical limited‑slip differential, and an extra rear anti‑roll bar.

Exterior tweaks include a front lip, gloss black diffuser with an F1‑inspired rear fog light, red accents, extended wheel arches, “perforated” 18‑inch wheels, and GTi badging on the C‑pillars.

Inside, the cabin features red carpets, floor mats, seatbelts, stitching, sport seats with a central red insert and red mesh detail, a leather and Alcantara steering wheel, red‑themed displays, and red ambient lighting (seven other colors available). A “sound ambience” system syncs with speed and can be disabled. Orders are open now, with the e‑208 GTi undercutting the Abarth 600 by €4,000 at launch.
