The new Official FIA F1® Safety Car, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+, has made its debut at the Hungaroring. This is the 14th Official FIA F1® Safety Car with the Mercedes star and it replaces the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, which had been in use since 2022. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ is a high-performance model from the GT family, with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine producing 450 kW (612 PS) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. The car features a fully variable all-wheel drive system, the AMG Performance 4MATIC+, which provides optimal traction in both dry and wet conditions. The Safety Car also features a range of other technologies, including a high-performance ceramic brake system, an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission, and a range of aerodynamic enhancements. The car’s aerodynamics have been optimized to provide stability at high speeds, and it features a new front splitter, modified rear wing, and aerodynamic elements on the front of the car. The Safety Car is also equipped with a range of communication systems, including a specially developed onboard network management system that integrates radio, GPS, and camera technology. The car is fitted with Pirelli P Zero R tires, which have been developed for high-performance use on the track. The new Safety Car made its debut at the Formula 1 AWS Hungarian Grand Prix, where two examples of the car were available for use in case of an emergency. The cars feature a special livery to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG’s involvement in the FIA F1® Safety Car program.
