Priced at $6599, the 2024 Kawasaki KLX300SM is a supermoto built directly on the KLX300 dual-sport platform, rolling on 17-inch wheels wrapped in street rubber. It is designed to function as both a canyon carver and an urban commuter.

For the 2024 model year, Kawasaki gave the bike a fresh look with redesigned plastics, encompassing the headlight cowling, fenders, radiator shrouds, and side covers. The updated bodywork features narrower shrouds and smoother side covers to improve rider mobility, accompanied by a smaller LED headlight, a tucked-in taillight, and a two-tone seat cover.

Power comes from a 292cc DOHC single-cylinder engine featuring fuel injection and paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine specs include a bore and stroke of 78.0 x 61.2mm, an 11.1:1 compression ratio, a 4-valve valvetrain, and an EFI system with a 34mm throttle body.
It uses a wet multidisc clutch and chain final drive. The chassis prioritizes agility and handling, featuring a 25-degree rake, 2.8 inches of trail, a short 56.5-inch wheelbase, and a curb weight of 304 pounds.

Stopping power and cornering grip come from narrow IRC Road Winner RX-01 tires (110/70 x 17 front, 130/70 x 17 rear), a 300mm front petal disc with a 2-piston Nissin caliper, and a 240mm rear petal disc with a single-piston caliper. Suspension duties are handled by a compression-damping adjustable 43mm inverted cartridge fork offering 9.1 inches of travel up front, alongside a linkage-assisted fully adjustable remote-reservoir shock providing 8.1 inches of rear wheel travel.

This long-travel setup sets the seat height at 33.9 inches, while ground clearance measures 9.3 inches. The bike carries a 2.0-gallon fuel tank.

Ergonomics follow a dual-sport layout with a wide handlebar for a natural, upright riding position. The KLX300SM is freeway-legal, though high-speed acceleration is limited. Color options for 2024 include Battle Gray and Phantom Blue.
