Mercedes-Benz has launched the VLE, an all-electric Grand Limousine that fuses the driving dynamics of a luxury sedan with the adaptability of an MPV. The VLE sets new benchmarks in long-distance comfort, efficiency, and versatility, targeting families, businesses, and leisure users alike.
At the heart of the VLE’s appeal is its class-leading efficiency, delivering over 700 kilometers of WLTP-certified range on a single charge. The 800-volt architecture enables rapid charging, with up to 355 kilometers replenished in just 15 minutes. The VLE also boasts exceptional ride comfort, thanks to AIRMATIC air suspension with automatic leveling and a 40 mm ride-height adjustment. Urban maneuverability is enhanced by a 10.9-meter turning circle, made possible by rear-axle steering that turns up to seven degrees.
The VLE’s interior is designed for maximum flexibility, accommodating up to eight adults on full-size seats. The rear cabin features MB.OS, the brand’s advanced operating system, and MBUX Fond-Erlebnis, offering an immersive infotainment experience with an optional 79 cm (31.3-inch) 8K retractable panoramic screen in the headliner. Level-2 driver-assistance systems, including MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, enable seamless point-to-point driving in urban traffic.
Two electric variants are available: the VLE 300 and the VLE 400 4MATIC. The VLE 300 delivers a combined energy consumption of 20.7–18.4 kWh/100 km, while the VLE 400 4MATIC consumes 22.1–19.8 kWh/100 km. Both models emit zero CO₂ and achieve CO₂ Class A ratings. The VLE’s modular seating system allows for easy reconfiguration: mechanical seats feature four integrated rollers for manual adjustment or removal, while electric seats can be repositioned via the central display or a dedicated app. The rear seats can also be adjusted individually using controls on the doors.
The VLE measures 5,309 mm in length and offers nearly 800 liters of cargo space with three rows in use. Removing all mechanical seats expands cargo capacity to 4,078 liters. A longer version, measuring 5,484 mm, will debut in 2027, further enhancing interior space. The VLE’s efficiency is notable, consuming less than 20 kWh per 100 km—comparable to about two liters of diesel in terms of energy equivalence.
Thomas Klein, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, emphasized the VLE’s role in redefining electric mobility for families and businesses: “The new VLE is exceptionally spacious, intelligent, and efficient, combining impressive agility and long-distance comfort. It’s designed to exceed customer expectations in every scenario.”
Andreas Zygan, Head of Development at Mercedes-Benz Vans, added: “The VLE is a game-changer. With its seven-degree rear-axle steering and AIRMATIC air suspension, it handles like a compact car yet rides like a premium sedan. Its 700+ km range and 15-minute charge for up to 355 km redefine what everyday electric mobility means for a vehicle of this size.”
