BYD has officially opened pre-orders in China for the new Denza N8, marking the brand’s first luxury five-seat electric SUV to break the 1,000 km CLTC range mark. According to Denza general manager Li Hui, pre-order results have been excellent for what the brand calls “the king of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles.” The model utilizes BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging Technology to deliver a world-leading 1,003 km pure electric range under CLTC testing conditions, succeeding a plug-in hybrid version that previously achieved a combined 1,003 km range on gas and electric power.

While BYD has not yet revealed official pre-order prices for the N8, the official launch is scheduled for November. It will hit the market following the rollout of the slightly longer six-seat Denza N8L.
The N8L is offered in two trims: the Premium EV starting at 299,800 RMB (about $45,000) and the Flagship model priced from 329,800 RMB ($49,000). Customers placing a reservation with a 2,000 RMB ($200) deposit receive a 5,000 RMB credit as a limited-time incentive.

Dimensionally, the Denza N8 EV measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,820 mm high, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase, making it slightly longer than the Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9. Inside, the cabin features a massive 30-inch infotainment screen spanning the passenger-side dashboard alongside a 43-inch (1.1 meter) panoramic head-up display (PHUD) positioned at the base of the windshield.

Additional interior amenities include zero-gravity seating across all rows, a three-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone chargers, and ambient lighting. For driver assistance and dynamics, the luxury SUV is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR system supporting BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 smart driving tech, alongside DiSus-A intelligent air suspension.
Powertrain options include a single motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup producing either 320 kW (429 HP) or 370 kW (496 HP), as well as a tri-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup utilizing BYD’s e3 platform. The tri-motor variant combines a 270 kW (362 HP) front motor with two 310 kW (416 HP) rear motors for a total output of 890 kW (1,193 HP).

Regulatory filings indicate the vehicle will be offered with a 130.15 kWh or 105.79 kWh BYD Blade 2.0 battery, yielding CLTC driving ranges of up to 1,003 km and 800 km respectively. BYD is set to announce final pricing next month.
