BYD‘s upcoming multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Ocean MPV, has been spotted testing in China ahead of its expected debut later this year. The vehicle was first unveiled as the Ocean-V concept at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, featuring a sliding center display screen and two unique modes: Camping and Movie.

However, the prototype spotted in testing looks drastically different from the concept, with a boxy design and traditional pull-style door handles. The Ocean MPV is expected to feature a 2+2+3 seating layout with room for seven passengers and a massive roof-mounted LiDAR.
Local reports suggest the vehicle will be 5,145 mm long, 1,970 mm wide, and 1,805 mm tall, with a 3,045 mm wheelbase. BYD has yet to confirm any powertrain or battery specs, but the Ocean MPV is expected to use BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system and its Blade Batteries.
The Ocean MPV is expected to fill the gap in BYD’s current MPV lineup, which includes the Denza D9 and the Xia, priced in the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan ($30,000 to $45,000) range.
