BYD is rolling out a major update for its luxury Denza Z9 GT in Europe in 2027, bringing the advanced God’s Eye intelligent driving assistance system to the market. Unveiled earlier this year in China, the Denza luxury sub-brand previously claimed a CLTC range of up to 1,036 km (643 miles). BYD launched the electric GT in Europe in July as its first vehicle to feature the tri-motor e3 platform, second-generation Blade Batteries, and Flash Charging Technology. Next year, European Denza vehicles will receive an upgrade to the God’s Eye intelligent driving assistance system. Starting with the Z9 GT in 2027, Denza models will get City Navigation on Driving Assistant (CNOA) via an over-the-air software update. Unlike average ADAS systems that handle basic straight-line highway cruising, BYD stated that CNOA manages point-to-point navigation in dense urban environments. The system utilizes the vehicle’s pre-installed hardware, which includes a LiDAR, 12 ultrasonic radar sensors, three millimeter-wave radar sensors, and 11 cameras. Once the update is installed, the vehicle can automatically stop at red lights, yield at roundabouts, match posted speed limits, execute left turns, and change lanes around double-parked cars. It also detects pedestrians, cyclists, and obstacles on narrow city streets. Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president, confirmed the rollout of God’s Eye and CNOA for the Z9 GT, with hardware pre-installed and software arriving via OTA in 2027. In Europe and the UK, the Denza Z9 GT is offered in pure EV and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The all-electric version pairs a 122.49 kWh battery pack with three electric motors, pumping out a combined 1,140 HP (850 kW) and 892 lb-ft (1,210 Nm) of torque. Under WLTP testing, the EV delivers up to 599 km (372 miles) of range. Utilizing Flash Charging stations with up to 1,500 kW of charging power, the Denza Z9 GT charges from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even in freezing temperatures down to -30°C, a 20% to 97% top-up takes just 12 minutes (3 minutes longer). Measuring 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,480 mm tall with a 3,125 mm wheelbase, the GT matches the footprint of the Porsche Panamera and Taycan. In Europe, the Denza Z9 GT EV starts at €115,000 ($130,000) including VAT. In the UK, the EV starts from £105,000 ($139,000), while the plug-in hybrid (DM) starts from £95,000 ($126,000).
