Cupra Leon VZ TCR: the most extreme front-wheel-drive Leon ever confirmed with 321 HP and Nürburgring spied

Cupra has confirmed the upcoming Leon VZ TCR will be the most powerful front-wheel-drive Leon ever built, delivering 321 horsepower from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The model is set to arrive later this year and will be limited to just 499 units.

Spy photographers recently caught the prototype at the Nürburgring, revealing aggressive styling cues including a prominent front splitter and a large rear wing.

The car rides on lightweight wheels paired with a high-performance Akebono braking system featuring six-piston calipers.

While the prototype closely resembles the standard Leon VZ, it lacks several previously announced features such as sportier side skirts, body side graphics, carbon fiber mirror caps, a copper-colored exhaust system, and TCR badging.

The interior remains unconfirmed, but Cupra has previously indicated it will feature CUPBucket front seats with four-point harnesses, removable rear seats, a strut bar, and an integrated net. Each car will also carry a laser-engraved serial number on the door panel.

The powertrain consists of the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 321 HP (239 kW / 325 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

This setup enables a 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) sprint in 5.6 seconds, with an “unrestricted top speed.” Additional highlights include adaptive chassis control and an electronically controlled front differential lock.
