A 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Spyder is up for sale on Craigslist for $21,500. The seller cites a lack of space as the reason for parting with the car.

This particular model is painted in “Arrest-Me Red” with a gray leather interior and features Mitsubishi’s 210-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4G63T turbocharged inline-four engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Unlike the top-tier coupes, the Spyder is front-wheel drive and does not feature the all-wheel-drive system found in other performance Mitsubishi models of the era.

The engine is mounted longitudinally with the gearbox on the left, a reversed layout compared to most conventional front-wheel-drive cars. The Eclipse was manufactured at the Diamond Star Motors plant in Normal, Illinois, a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler that closed in 2015.

The car has reportedly undergone recent work to restore its appearance and is described as mostly stock. It has 67,400 miles on the odometer.

Modifications noted include a Pioneer Double DIN aftermarket stereo, a set of later model Eclipse alloys (in addition to the original chrome-plated factory wheels), and “lower” coil-overs. The seller states that all original parts have been retained and will be included with the sale.

Despite the low mileage, the seller claims the cam belt, crucial for this interference engine, has been replaced, and the car runs and drives well. The vehicle is reported to have a clean title.
