Register Home News Chinese supplier plans €130… Back to News Chinese supplier plans €130m carbon black, silica plant in Egypt 16 Sep 2026 Share: Investment targets 200ktpa combined capacity in Sokhna as tire makers expand presence in the country Qingzhou, China – Shandong Link Science & Technology is planning to invest Yuan1 billion (€130 million) in a major carbon black and silica production complex in Egypt. The Chinese materials producer intends to build the facility in the Sokhna Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, according to a 15 Sept stock-exchange filing. The project will have a capacity to produce 100 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of carbon black and 100ktpa of silica, with construction expected to take around 18 months. Link Science said its overseas business had continued to expand, with international revenue rising 45.03% year-on-year in 2025. Furthermore, the Chinese supplier said its sales network now cover Europe, the Middle East, southeast Asia, Africa and South Korea. Establishing production in Egypt, Link Science added, would bring the company “closer to overseas target markets, reduce logistics and tariff costs, [and] improve response speed to international customers.” The project will include new silica and carbon black production lines as well as warehousing, environmental-protection, waste-heat recycling, R&D and office facilities. At full capacity, Link Science estimates that the operation could generate annual revenue of more than Yuan1.27 billion and net profit of Yuan188 million. The investment comes amid a wave of investments by Chinese major tire makers in Egypt, including projects announced by Linglong Tire (ERJ report), ZC Rubber (ERJ report) and Sailun (ERJ report) recently. Link Science said the trend among Chinese tire makers was increasing demand for local supply of materials and strengthening the case for its Egyptian investment. The project will be operated by newly established Link Egypt Materials Co. Ltd. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Qingzhou, Shandong province, Link Science specialises in the development, manufacture and sale of carbon black and silica. The Shenzhen-listed company currently has designed production capacity of 225ktpa of carbon black and 230ktpa of silica. Link Science reported 2024 revenue of Yuan2.27 billion, up 18.2% year-on-year, while net profit increased 61.0% to Yuan274 million.
