The popular rubberized aerosol product Flex Seal has been put to the test by some adventurous YouTubers, who attempted to use it to fix various types of tires, including car, truck, bicycle, and tractor tires. Despite the product’s versatility, its effectiveness on rubber or synthetic rubber is not guaranteed, as it is not recommended for use on materials that undergo intense heat and pressure.

One YouTuber tried to patch two holes in an old tire using Flex Seal aerosol, but the tire began leaking at just 20 PSI. Another video showed a tractor owner attempting to repair a dry-rotted tire with Flex Seal Liquid, but the sealant blew out due to sudden and intense pressure.

However, a group of off-road enthusiasts successfully used Flex Seal to fix a nasty gash on a 35-inch off-road tire’s sidewall, and the tire held air even at 80 mph. Additionally, two content creators used Flex Seal to patch a dilapidated bicycle tire, but the fix altered the bicycle’s steering feel and produced a strange sound.

These experiments demonstrate that Flex Seal can offer a temporary fix, but it is not a reliable or safe solution for tire repairs. It is recommended to replace tires if the treads are bald or have worn down to the legal limit of 2/32 of an inch, and to understand which parts of a tire can be patched for the best results.
