Chevrolet has finally unveiled the long-awaited 2027 Silverado 1500, marking the first major redesign of the full-size pickup in nearly a decade since the 2018 update. The truck continues to offer four powertrain options: a standard turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder paired with a 10-speed automatic (up from the current 8-speed), the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six, and two next-generation naturally aspirated V8s—a 5.7-liter and a 6.6-liter.
Chevrolet claims these new V8s are the most powerful in their class, though no specific power figures have been released. Executive chief engineer Mark Dickens emphasized the engines have undergone rigorous testing to ensure “durability, capability, and dependability.” The move comes after the current 6.2-liter V8 faced a class-action lawsuit and a nearly 600,000-unit recall last year, so reliability improvements are clearly a priority.

Production of the Silverado EV is being paused indefinitely starting in 2027, but hybridized powertrains are reportedly in development for the new Silverado. Chevrolet has not yet announced pricing or an on-sale date.
Design-wise, the 2027 Silverado retains familiar full-size truck proportions but receives modernized styling cues, including new side marker lights integrated into the front bumper, boxier fender flares, and revised side window glass, pillars, and fenders. The truck does not share any body panels with the outgoing model.

Inside, the cabin gets a significant upgrade with a 12.2-inch digital gauge cluster and a 16.3-inch center touchscreen even in the base Work Truck trim. Higher trims like the ZR2 and High Country introduce an 11.5-inch passenger screen—a first for the Silverado—which pairs with a head-up display and a digital rearview mirror.

Physical controls remain, including dedicated climate control knobs and switches. The 2027 Silverado 1500 will be offered in seven trims: Work Truck, Custom, Trail Boss, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado (formerly LT), ZR2, and High Country.

Notable features include dual wireless charging pads, a reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console (reminiscent of the Ford F-150), and Super Cruise hands-free driving, which Chevrolet notes is the only Level 2 system that works while towing. The Work Truck trim gets new digital displays, enhanced safety tech, and core connectivity features as standard.

The Custom trim rolls out with 20-inch wheels and dual exhausts. The Custom Trail Boss adds a two-inch lift and 34-inch tires, while the new Silverado trim includes the Z71 off-road package with skid plates, hill descent control, and off-road suspension when 4WD is selected.
The Trail Boss trim offers a two-inch lift, 34-inch MT tires, and an “off-road hood,” with two interior theme options featuring Torch Red-edged seatbelts and fabric-accented seats. The ZR2 is the off-road flagship, packing 35-inch MT tires, a two-inch lift, standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, Multimatic DSSV dampers with jounce dampers, and a power dome hood.

The interior features red accents, including red-edged seatbelts, and GM’s first use of forged carbon fiber on door and console trim. The ZR2 Bison Edition adds AEV bumpers front and rear, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and extensive skid plating.

At the top of the lineup, the High Country trim delivers luxury with 22-inch wheels, a Tritan Satin grille, a panoramic sunroof (a Silverado first), the Multi-Flex center console with sliding storage cubbies and cupholders, tan-edged seatbelts, real wood accents, custom seat treatments, and an available microfiber suede interior. Production will take place at GM’s full-size truck assembly plants in Flint, Michigan, and Tonawanda, New York. Chevrolet has not yet provided an expected on-sale date.
