German motorsport and tuning outfit SSR Performance is working on a GT2-style 911 monster based on the latest 992.2 GT3 RS. Dubbed Project Leo, the car is expected to produce over 800 horsepower thanks to twin turbochargers added to the GT3’s 4.0L flat-6 engine.

The car has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring, where it’s rumored to be capable of beating the lap record set by the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar. SSR has developed its own chassis and aerodynamic mods for Project Leo, including new vents, a huge front splitter, and a revised rear end with air intakes and a new exhaust system.

The car’s sound has been affected by the addition of turbos, resulting in a more muffled, bassier tone. With Porsche rumored to be working on a new GT2 RS, the Stuttgart automaker will likely be watching SSR’s progress with interest.
