Hyundai has just delivered its strongest first-half sales performance in company history, with 450,568 units sold through June 2026—a 3.0% increase over the same period in 2025, when it moved 439,280 vehicles. The milestone was powered by the best June ever, with 77,555 units sold, an 11.0% jump year-over-year. Q2 sales totaled 245,180 units, up 4.0%. The surge is largely driven by Hyundai’s hybrid lineup, which now accounts for 33% of total sales. Hybrid sales alone jumped 74.0% in June 2026, 71.0% in Q2, and 67.0% for the first half of the year.

The Santa Fe Hybrid rose 12.0%, the Tucson Hybrid climbed 14.0%, and the Sonata Hybrid exploded by 246.0% compared to June 2025. Across all segments, June saw strong year-over-year growth for multiple Hyundai models: Elantra (+22.0%), Ioniq 9 (+21.0%), Palisade (+23.0%), Santa Fe (+1.0%), Sonata (+36.0%), Tucson (+20.0%), and Venue (+20.0%). Electrified models—including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and EVs—now make up 33.0% of Hyundai’s total sales. However, pure electric vehicles (excluding hybrids) represent a smaller slice. Hyundai bundles Kona Electric sales with conventional Kona models, making it impossible to isolate EV-only figures.

Excluding Kona Electric, the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 9 accounted for 26,829 units, roughly 5.9% of total sales. The Ioniq 6 was discontinued (except for the Ioniq 6 N), which explains its 80.0% sales drop to 1,241 units. Meanwhile, Ioniq 5 sales rose 9.0% to 20,730 units despite the loss of the federal tax credit, and Ioniq 9 sales surged 380.0% to 4,858 units. Hyundai’s hybrid dominance is so strong that industry observers suggest the automaker may follow Toyota’s lead by making certain models hybrid-only. The company’s electrified strategy is clearly resonating with buyers, proving hybrids are the driving force behind its record-breaking sales run.
