Alpina’s founders built a 790-HP sleeper wagon—but the sedan fans crave exists only as a render

The Bovensiepen 05 GT is a limited-run, Alpina-badged beast built on the BMW M5 Touring, packing a fire-breathing hybrid V8 that cranks out 790 HP and 1,100 Nm of torque. That’s a 72-HP bump over the donor M5’s powertrain, thanks to a reprogrammed ECU, a trickier air intake, and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust. The numbers don’t lie: 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a 305 km/h top speed. But here’s the kicker—it’s a wagon, and the Alpina faithful are itching for a four-door sedan version.

Enter digital artist Theophilus Chin, who’s stepped in with a high-fidelity render that transplants the 05 GT’s aggressive underpinnings onto the M5 sedan. The result? A wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing Alpina that channels the spirit of the classic B5, complete with the same custom bumpers, side skirts, and multi-spoke forged alloys. Chin swapped the wagon’s silver finish for a deep blue, letting the silver bumper accents and quad tailpipes steal the show while nodding to Alpina’s heritage.

For now, Bovensiepen isn’t biting. The 05 GT remains wagon-only, a deliberate choice to honor the Touring shape that kicked off the project. The render is all fans get—for now. But with BMW’s Neue Klasse updates and next-gen models on the horizon, there’s always hope for an expanded lineup down the line, even if it sticks to Alpina’s softer design language rather than the M division’s hard-edged stance.
