Japanese chemicals giant Resonac Corp. announced it will raise prices for its Showprene chloroprene rubber by more than ¥50 per kilogram, effective for deliveries starting July 1. The move follows a 15 June company statement citing severe cost pressures driven by soaring raw material expenses linked to the Middle East situation. Resonac described the operating environment as “far beyond the limits of our self-help efforts,” highlighting that rising costs for auxiliary materials, fuels, and other inputs have compounded the challenge. The price increase applies to Showprene chloroprene rubber, a specialty elastomer used across industrial applications. The company did not specify the exact new price or the scope of affected contracts.
