Chinese automaker BYD is accelerating its European push with the all-new Dolphin G plug-in hybrid, set to land on UK shores this summer. The supermini-sized Dolphin G features a PHEV powertrain under the DM-i badge, blending a petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver combined outputs that promise to eclipse rivals like the Renault Clio and Toyota Yaris. BYD claims the Dolphin G will offer up to 65 miles of pure electric range, positioning it as a strong contender in the increasingly competitive supermini segment. The first official images reveal a sharp, modern design language with BYD’s latest styling cues, including a bold front grille and sleek LED lighting. The Dolphin G is part of BYD’s rapid expansion strategy in Europe, where it aims to challenge established brands by blending cutting-edge technology with aggressive pricing. While full technical specifications and UK pricing remain under wraps, the Dolphin G is expected to arrive in showrooms ahead of the summer, with a review already scheduled for June 11, 2026. The model is part of BYD’s broader push to tailor its offerings to European tastes, addressing differences in consumer expectations between the two markets.
