Wyndham Clark claims wire-to-wire win at 20th BMW Championship

Wyndham Clark secured his first Playoff title and sixth PGA TOUR victory overall with a wire-to-wire triumph at the 20th BMW Championship, held at Bellerive Country Club. The 32-year-old American led from the first round and finished five strokes clear of Rory McIlroy (NIR) heading into the final round. A late surge on Sunday saw Clark card three consecutive birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18 to finish at 17 under par, while McIlroy (-13) faded to fourth behind Patrick Cantlay (USA, -14), the 2021 and 2022 BMW Championship winner. Collin Morikawa, Gary Woodland, and Chris Gotterup (all -12) shared third place, while defending champion Scottie Scheffler (USA, -7) finished tied for 12th but retained the FedExCup lead over Matt Fitzpatrick (ENG, -3, T28). Clark now sits third in the season standings. The anniversary tournament drew rave reviews from fans, who enjoyed a world-class field featuring only the top 50 FedExCup-ranked players. BMW highlighted its latest models at the event, including the new BMW X5 built at the BMW Group Plant Spartanburg (USA), the new BMW 7 Series, and the all-electric BMW iX3, the first model of BMW’s Neue Klasse. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which has awarded over 4,000 full-tuition scholarships to caddies since 2007. Juliya Tabaka of Manchester, Missouri, was named the latest BMW Hole-in-One Scholar, earning a four-year scholarship to the University of Missouri after Akshay Bhatia’s ace at last year’s event. Despite a historic opportunity, no player aced the 16th hole, so neither the new BMW X5 nor the BMW iX3 was awarded. The 21st BMW Championship will move to Liberty National Golf Club in 2027.
