German chemical giant Wacker has officially opened a new silicones production site in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, marking the completion of a €100 million investment initiated in 2024. The facility will specialize in room-temperature-curing silicones and solid silicone rubber, serving the automotive, household appliances, medical technology, and energy sectors. Executive board member Christian Kirsten highlighted the site’s strategic role in Wacker’s European silicone operations, integrating with existing plants in Plzeň, Nünchritz, and Burghausen. The new facility is designed to enhance flexibility, agility, and efficiency across Wacker’s European production network, with state-of-the-art technology ensuring high quality and performance. The expansion aligns with Wacker’s focus on key growth areas including e-mobility, medical technology, renewable energy, grid expansion, and digitalization. Customized silicone elastomers produced at Karlovy Vary will address high-performance applications where conventional materials fall short. The company emphasized the site’s role in strengthening its position as a leading solution provider for specialty silicones in Europe.
