Tow Truck Drivers Dismantle Honda At Drive-Through To Save Trapped Kitten

A dramatic rescue unfolded at a Scooter’s Coffee location in Ames, Iowa, when a kitten became trapped behind the grille of a Honda during a heat advisory. The kitten, later named Fika, was panting heavily and in distress, prompting the car’s owner to call for help. After the Ames Animal Shelter’s officer, Kathy Pike, was unable to reach the kitten from underneath the car, Central Iowa Towing and Recovery was called to the scene. Tow operators Cole Denning and Jordan McKnight arrived and determined that the only way to free the kitten was to disassemble the front end of the Honda. They carefully removed panels around the hood and headlights, creating enough space to extract the kitten. The rescue took approximately 15 minutes, and the Honda was later reassembled. Fika, named after the Swedish word for a purposeful coffee or tea break, was taken for care and is set to be adopted by McKnight once she’s spayed. The community came together to save the kitten, and the story has a happy ending.
