Cape Advanced Vehicles (CAV) has unveiled the GT MkII, a bespoke supercar that channels the spirit of the legendary Ford GT40 but isn’t built by Ford. This restomod packs a twin-supercharged 4.2-liter V8 under its carbon-fiber skin, pushing out 800 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The engine features forged internals, direct injection, dry-sump lubrication, a carbon-fiber intake manifold, and an Inconel exhaust. Power is sent to all four wheels via one of three transmissions: a six-speed single-clutch semi-automatic, a dual-clutch, or a manual. The GT MkII’s claimed performance figures are brutal: a top speed of over 205 mph and a 0–62 mph sprint in just 3.0 seconds. The car tips the scales at 2,976 pounds, thanks to a carbon-fiber composite body and an aluminum and carbon-fiber spaceframe. While CAV doesn’t disclose the chassis beneath the retro bodywork, clues point to an Audi R8 platform. The original Ford GT40 was a racing icon, famously outshining Ferrari at Le Mans in the 1960s, and this modern interpretation keeps the legend alive with a twist. CAV has been crafting GT40 replicas for decades, but the GT MkII marks a significant leap in performance and engineering, offering supercar-level power, multiple transmission choices, and a design that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
