Tesla’s Cybercab is 700 lbs lighter than the lightest Model 3, EPA docs reveal

Tesla’s upcoming autonomous ride-hailing EV, the Cybercab, has just been weighed—and it’s shockingly light for an electric truck.

Fresh EPA filings confirm the Cybercab tips the scales at 3,113 lbs (1,412 kg), roughly 700 lbs lighter than the lightest Tesla Model 3 currently on sale.

That’s no small feat for a two-door, two-seat electric vehicle, especially one packing a 48-kWh battery and a modest 219 HP front-mounted electric motor.

The EPA data also reveals a gross vehicle weight rating of 3,730 lbs (1,691 kg), giving the Cybercab a payload capacity of 617 lbs (280 kg).

Efficiency is where the Cybercab truly shines: Tesla’s paperwork lists a blistering 165 Wh/mi rating, making it the most efficient Tesla ever revealed and one of the most efficient EVs on the market.

Under EPA test-cycle conditions, the Cybercab is rated for 418.2 miles (673 km) of range, though real-world driving is expected to land closer to 280–290 miles (450–467 km).

Prototypes have been spotted with steering wheels and pedals, suggesting the Cybercab may launch with human controls before Tesla finalizes its autonomous driving stack.

Tesla originally targeted a launch before 2027, but with the year now halfway over, it’s unclear if that timeline remains viable.
