Team WRT’s Silver Cup Car Claims Overall Podium at Magny-Cours in GT World Challenge Europe

Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro drove the Team WRT #30 BMW M4 GT3 EVO to a sensational overall podium finish at the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup weekend at Magny-Cours. The duo secured second place in Sunday’s race, following an excellent strategy after a red flag period.

This result came after they had already celebrated victory in the Silver Cup on Saturday evening, marking their third Sprint Cup class win of the season. Meanwhile, defending champions Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts endured a challenging weekend, experiencing a difficult qualifying session on Saturday and a retirement on Sunday due to contact with another competitor.

Despite this, they retained their lead in the Sprint Cup standings. Augusto Farfus and Paradine Competition won Sunday’s Bronze Cup race with the #991 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, after narrowly missing out on the class podium with fourth place in Race 1.

The weekend saw mixed results for Team WRT, with Max Hesse and Valentino Rossi finishing sixth and ninth in the #46 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, and Jordan Pepper and Amaury Cordeel crossing the line in 20th and 11th places. The GT World Challenge Europe continues, with van der Linde and Weerts aiming to defend their title.
